Chisna needs a page, too. This is sooo true. When are you going to save me the trouble of cutting and posting your perfectly stated positions and join my crew???? It is a lowly justification for sending Americans to die and be maimed, yet it is their best excuse for going in. Defy them to use that same reasoning on an existing scenario which makes Saddam look like Mr. Rogers.
By Chisna:
It blew my mind the other day when reading about the lies that led to the Iraq war. The last reason given and the only one that holds any water with me.....Saddam was a cruel dictator. And many died and suffered under his rule....Reason enough to invade the nation, and make more suffer than would have or conceivably could have under Saddams rule...?No....There are ways to remove dictators from power, all out invasion being the very last option any nation should choose. Then I came across a article on INN... a very good independent news network that is just headlines. No opinion.....It stated that war is killing 45,000 people each month in the Congo. Half of those being children. This being the highest death rates since WWII.....Do we see this in American media..?Do we hear our mighty leader stating that the United States. The great humanitarian nation is holding this cruel dictators feet to the fire...? Well of course not...what's in it for Bush and his gang of thieves..? Oil...?Not enough... No bid contracts for Halliburton, and a nice kickback for Cheney...? Nope... Can they say going there would be helping fight the war on terror...? Nope...the Congo only has a 2% Islamic population.Do they think they would really have to sell us on helping the people of the Congo...?Hey, try us.... be honest with us for once. You might be surprised to find we really do care. But instead of telling us and Congress how you are going to do it... ask us first. Because until the democrats take over in 2009...we don't trust your judgement.

Question for you...
I respect your opinions, and am wondering why this post of mine got so many votes down....
Am I nut's...? Unrealistic.....
Does this not make any sense to anyone but me....?
What are the challenges we face in the world and at home....?
Obviously hate is not exclusive to those who direct it towards us. As we see it from Americans directed towards other nations and even towards ourselves.
Nor is love of nation or of family exclusive to Americans. Perhaps we should look again at the similarities we share, and the difference's, accept the things we do not share and embrace the things we do. We must respect each others right to exist, and feel secure. Imposing our will or beliefs on another nation is not acceptable. Nor is it acceptable for another nation to impose their beliefs on us. This also applies to forcing our beliefs on each other. Religious and political.
Diplomacy seems to have become a lost art, this needs to change. In a world facing dwindling resources and increasing populations we are facing even more challenges ahead. A changing climate may even add to this. We need to rise to the challenge's that face us, as do all of the nations of the world. Together we can overcome these obstacles, divided....we shall all suffer.....
Sacrifices will need to be made by all. And the pride we take in knowing we met these challenges together will be ample compensation for the comforts we may need to give up.
The one contant this administration has displayed is it's ability to lie.
Chisna, I believe, truely, that the hate is self-loathing, as evidenced by the message boards, television commentators, finger pointing and constant badgering. I have been called a loon, tree hugger, outright liar, etc, as have most of us here.
They make me sad, not because of what they say, but because they obviously have issues that they are passing on to their children.
Lies and insanity.
Chis, there is no accounting for ignorance. I defy anyone on any side of any issue to convince me that we are in Iraq for these reasons, truly; yet we SHOULD NOT be in these other places for the same more clearly dilineated reasons in Africa. The reason you got so many thumbs down...(if that's what you are referring to), is that you are poking them in a pretty sore spot and they have no legitimate argument to the contrary. Also because most Americans feel that we can not and should not be in Darfur, helping Africans, but we should also not be in Iraq, either.
