Super Tuesday is now over. It was something to see. I am a twice married 49 year old white woman. Both of my Husbands are African-American. Both of my Sons are obviously of mixed-race. My X voted for Hillary. My current voted for Obama, as well as I. My eldest voted for Obama. Navy Son decided to sit the Primary out. He's as Independent as they come.
Saying that, what struck me was the fact that for the 1st time ever there were people on the box that look like me, like US. A woman, a man of color.
The NUMBERS of people that came out to vote reflect the fact that this Country is sick, weary, tired and UP AND THINKING, voicing their opinions, their OUTRAGE.
They came out in droves, through all kinds of weather, in this tight economy, they used precious gasoline and got their ASSES to the polls for a PRIMARY!
In our small town, we are lucky to get a trickle of folks to vote in a school board election.
Last night, I worked one of our 6 districts. We had over 500 people vote! Usually we have approx 100.
NUMBERS!
I gotta believe in the numbers.
I gotta believe in the sheer HOPE that we are going to change this time around.

NO STORIES ABOUT IT...but I noticed during the returns last night, that Democratic voters outnumbered republicans by something like 3 to 1. "none of the above" wins yet again for republicans. Come november there is going to be a wompin'.
I believe that there are a whole lotta Republicans just holding out for that "PRIVATE" moment in the voting booth, no one around, gonna push all the BLUE BUTTONS.
Now that Super Tuesday has come and gone, it's clear the Democratic Nominees are both good candidates with excellent leadership skills. I'm putting away my "I won't vote for Hillary" banner. BUT, I am strongly advocating for Obama as the best choice for bringing the country together. And I'm open to all sincere advocates of Hillary. I'm burying that hatchet early and I'll tell you why I think it's important for all Democrats to do so. The Republicans are already starting their healing process and the mud has dried up. They have a lot of time to solidify their base while the Democrats are in for a long haul and this can escalate the in-fighting which tends to discourage voters. While Hillary may not be my first choice, I'll be voting for an Edwards appointment and maybe Biden and Richardson. There's no guarantee she will choose them, or Obama either, but I KNOW McCain will appoint radicals and PNAC thinkers. There are Judicial appointments to consider as well. The most compelling reason to stop the bickering, to me, is the "smear" is almost all based on some element of conspiracy theory. Which leads me to believe they are primarily generated by the right wing and adopted by Democrats to suit their purposes. Prior to today, I was still anti-Hillary if I read something anti-Obama. But I'm vowing at this time to no longer fall into that trap. Has anyone else been struggling between Barack and Hillary as an "either/or" choice?
lol...like a kid in the elevator. that is proof that they are political animals with no moral center. They refuse to vote for anyone in their party, they just want to foster division or CAUSE CONFUSION (that's like spreading their disease, confusion). They are the guys on a hockey team who are standing there at every fight, but never a part of the actual fisticuffs. Demlucky, I have also struggled, a tad. My feeling is that While the Clintons did well for our country, they still had some issues. Experience wise, i feel they are very close, as Clinton has only been in charge of her own political destiny since Bill was out of office. I also believe (half-heartedly) that Obama could do us some good in the ME simply because of his name. No one can accuse America of being anti arab with a Barack Obama in the president's seat. Hell, they may assume he's the seventh Imam and start giving us gasoline for ten cents a gallon. "mama, we are talking about terrorism in history class, what is a terrorist attack?"
"Well, dear, you wouldn't know anything about that, there haven't been any since president obama visited the ME and they started giving us stuff." lol That's not going to happen, I KNOW, but I feel that he is a true uniter. A well-spoken intelligent politician that speaks in terms of what we can and could do, rather than in cliche's. The clinton's were good in the whitehouse, but let's not give them a pass on the selling of the lincoln bedroom, bills foibles, and all of the stuff (admittedly the repubs claimed) they took from the whitehouse. I will not be an apologist for ANYONE. I, like you prefer Obama to Clinton. Sorry, deb...my sister is for clinton, as well. How boring would life be if everyone agreed all the time? Ask a republican...lol.
I struggled at first. Then I buckled down and put my emotions aside. I got to thinking about this. Bullies. America has become a bunch of surly, me first, gimme what I want childish bullies. Bullies with weapons. Look at what we have done.
I want someone in there that will actually think and talk to the rest of the world.
I don't buy into the hype about lack of experience, we've all had out first day at something and we learned.
I'll vote for Hillary if I have to.
Love the idea of free gifts from the ME, Huck, lol.
I have to tell you all I am pretty excited about this election.
And at the same time fear that it is going to be a Swift Boat election like none we have ever seen.
It's going to be like compairing the SS Minnow to the Titanic.
The War in Iraq board is ablaze with people trying to slander Obama. The other candidates don't seem to be drawing as much fire. But it's there...
I warn some of you who still frequent the board about a poster by the name of Contra. He has been on a Obama smear campaign.
Posting things that are complete bull. And when I have shot down each and every one of his posts.
( staying within the TOS )
He files TOS complaints against me.
I have now been blocked from the board. I am trying to resolve this, but have little faith in AOL anymore after having my original account closed. Also..have any of you seen Milos posts lately..?
Whats up with Milo....?
I mean ok, I support Obama...but if he doesn't get the nomination.
I will support Clinton, because the alternative is what...?
100 years in the M.E. ?
War with Iran...?
Ok... I feel better now...
Thanks for listening... :)
That's why we're here, chis..mount a TOS campaign against Contra...tos him for whatever. Don't even talk to him. TOS his ass. When i get on this afternoon, I'll find a post of his and TOS him no less than five times. Get that committment out of three more people and he'll have to invent a new screen name. After two or three times doing that, he'll run out of possible names to use and he'll give up. No venue is to small for political hacks to seep into. He's in my cross-hairs, Chis. Consider him TOSd.
Milo, gsjonnyc2ck, contra (numerous s/n's) are all on some private "missions". Jonny revealed he/she is on a Rove-like campaign to bait Obama supporters into digging dirt to dump on Hillary. As a Democrat, I'm trying my best to refrain from joining the bashing, it's a difficult task.
I know what you mean, Dem. My own sister has become a clinton apologist and Obama basher....I do not see any reason to apologize for ANYONE. I back obama, admitting his shortcomings. If Clinton is the nominee...i will vote for her, again ADMITTING HER SHORTCOMINGS. What is so tough about using defensible logic to make a decision? Why do political operatives feel the need to exagerate? For me it takes away from anything else one would say which may be true....plants a seeed of doubt, if you will as regards motives. Why do normal people become pathalogs during election time; everything being said to elicit some mental or emotional response?
Contra has been on the war and other boards for a long time and no matter how many times we TOS him, he'll rear right back up. I only have hapless Tmack on ignore. I don't reply to any of the 'mission' based posters as a rule. Most of what they do is repeat ad nauseum and I just scroll past em after hitting the TOS.
Chisna, AOL really does not care 'bout any of us old dogs.
Obama is really building momentum and he won a Grammy to boot! Back to the numbers and it's even more apparent the Democratic base is mobilized and attracting Independents. People are genuinely excited about hope, change and a better future. They are excited about a true mandate to end the occupation of Iraq and unravel our entanglements. On the other side, Bush is trying to rally support for McCain (crickets chirp). I believe, as Huck has said, there is a wompin' on the way.
