The "Fox News" Journal

DemLucky is a friend from another board who has a nack for hitting the nail on the head. In my futile effort to generate fresh content on my own....I can not resist quoting spot-on commentary posted here by such savants. And DemLucky, since you have not accepted my invitation to post, I hope that you do not mind me cutting and pasting it here.

'Pot of java brewing and I open a few media resources to get the latest news...what's this? The Wall Street Journal..."Stopping Iran", a commentary by Norman Podhoretz? Norman Podhoretz, the crazy neoconservative? Podhoretz the radical? In the Wall Street Journal. Well, at least they clearly identify the article as "commentary", but how did it make Google's "Front Page" as a primary link? I smell sulfur eminating from the halls of the Wall Street Journal."To begin with, Iran was (as certified even by the doves of the State Department) the leading sponsor of terrorism in the world, and it was therefore reasonable to fear that it would transfer nuclear technology to terrorists who would be only too happy to use it against us".In this paragraph, we see the evil cunning of a con-man at work. "Doves" in the State Department? Please Norman, list their names so I can write them and encourage them to continue to fight for sanity in our foreign policy. But there are no "doves" are there Norman. It's really the sane versus the insane, and Mr. Podhoretz, you represent the most dangerous of the insane. You are given a credible forum to pervert and twist into a Neoconservative Pulpit from which you preach to the masses that America must create more war to "survive". To understand Podhoretz is to cross over to the dark side of humanity. The side that endorses a global war of the civilizations, that endorses creating such a strong disgust among Muslims with American Imperialism that conflict is inevitable. Norman Podhoretz's commentary is irresponsible and reckless and the Wall Street Journal is the same with Rupert Murdoch at the helm. To quote Podhoretz, "God help us all".'

Huck, I'm flattered and I missed the invitation to post. In the future, I'll mail some pre-scripts and maybe we can collaborate to generate some interesting discussion. Norman Podhoretz is a senior advisor to the Giuliani campaign, considered the GodFather of Neoconservatism and a PNAC "foundation". While I'm not surprised the Wall Street Journal has suddenly turned to Fox polls with Rupert Murdoch (Fox News owner and PNAC member) at his newly purchased "helm", it was a surprise to see such a radical viewpoint given such high recognition. On one hand, I might say this is good so more sane people realize the insane are the people with the greatest influence and this must change. But Podhoretz is an accomplished advocate of insanity, much like Hannity and Coulter. He appeals to that funky 20% that are so frightened of losing their "things" that they create the monsters in the closet or seek them in the wisdom of Podhoretz or Coulter. What won't surprise me now? Ann Coulter appearing in the Wall Street Journal as well.
Podhoretz commentary continues to advocate the need to bomb Iran with a quick "in and out" air strike campaign. It's promoted as a quick mission guaranteed to successfully knock out Iran's nuclear facilities and secure peace for not only Israel, but the entire region. But, there is the ulterior motive he only exposes when engaged in discussion with a real interviewer and that is the ultimate goal of whipping up Anti-American hostilities to justify an all-out invasion of the region and focus on destroying Syria and Iran. Podhoretz appears in the WSJ as "commentary at large" and William Kristol (PNAC co-founder, editor Washington Standard Weekly) is now writing a weekly piece for the New York Times. At the very time neoconservatism is exposed as a flawed ideology steeped in the traditions of fascism, why are two of the most prominent activists for war and American Imperialism given a pulpit of assumed credibility in our Free Press?

Wow, DemLucky, spot on as usual. It seems it always comes down to balance, or lack thereof. Good vs Evil, Light vs Dark, Haves vs Have Nots, Fear vs Reason.
And things. We are a gotta have it at all cost, any cost, microwave society.
Lemmings and sheep.
With the 'funky' azzed running it all, well that's what they think anyhow. Did I say 'think'?

I would be honored, DL. I have re-sent the invitation, if you aren't getting it (from huckintheway@yahoo.com) then get me an e-mail and I'll re-send it to you. Back-door political influence peddling is the lowest form of commentary. This sonofabitch Podhoretz is trying to get folks riled up hoping for a snowball effect. Truth of the matter is that calling "bull" on such diatribes is the only thing that should be snowballing since Fox (Rupert Murdoch) has long since shown their hand when it comes to portraying Op ED as news. Not to mention no one is THAT naive after seven years of Bush. No one has called him on his intelligence estimate inconsistencies for months, and he didn't even half-ass defend his previous position of "attack or die." Someone needs to rake him over the coals for that shit and it has not been done. When it comes to media...I think there is a link between extremism and ratings, until it goes too far or advertisers start pulling the plug. How long before the Wall Street Journal is just another tabloid rag?

Sturange, it's one of those quirks of consumerism, isn't it? The more we have, the more we need and the more to lose. The more we have to lose, the more susceptible we become to feelings like paranoia, distrust and fear. Talk radio for the neoconservatives is more like a "support group" for people who want to share their fears. And that is the insanity I refer to with regard to Podhoretz and the PNAC and the underlying motives for McCain, Romney and Giuliani. Any one of the Republican's appeal can be summarized as, "if you're scared enough, you'll vote for me!" Whether it's the economy or the coming invasion of Iran (according to "the plan").

Huck, that is the real tragedy in all of this. The Wall Street Journal is being destroyed and will likely go the way of the tabloid. I'm not sure if it's Murdoch's intention to be relevant or to dilute the entire message from all sides as irrelevant outside of "tabloid interest" where rumor and innuendo prevail.

imho, he's all about market share, regardless of effect. Rupert Murdoch is notorious for the antics he pulled which resulted in holding back broadband transmission capability upgrades in this country for two solid years as he scrambled for time to control the purveyors of the technologies they were considering at the time. He wasn't concerned with the standard or what it meant to the viewing public...just how it could help his personal wealth expand. The fact that the owners sold it to him just means it is happening....instant credibility deficit. The evidence will make itself apparent as time goes by, but the moment it happened will be a question in no one's mind.

ARGH! Is Google really screwed up or what is going on? My password is only accepted to get the dasboard, but not gmail? How can I have two passwords? I'm not real confident in this Blog provider at this stage. I tried accessing some "special" access, but it doesn't exist apparently without some password I know nothing about. Sorry Huck, I'll just visit I guess. Good luck with Google.

I recant my Google remark! I guess it helps when you don't change your password "midstream", hehe, uh, yep, it was my own darn fault!

I have taken to keeping a password journal next to my computer. With all the TOS crap, I've had to make adjustments.
