I have invited a few close allies to post articles here, and soon will get a few close opponents. Variety being the spice of life and all, I feel it necessary. There were two ways to set this thing up, then a plethora of options as to how it is run. One way would be to have a closed room with invitations only. I thought this might appeal to some with whom I enjoy discussion greatly; but I did not want to deny access to anyone as all should be heard. With what all has been going on in our old haunt (lowering the bar to insults, gotcha's, purely mean-spirited hatespeech, and entrapment) I see an attempt to polarize the political landscape and splinter any example, symbol, or microcosm of the cohesiveness this country had; the instigators doing so are using extremely annoying pathological and manipulative language and tactics. I decided to give my internet friends a place to come and play, however or whatever it took. I am not special, anyone can make a blog page, apparently. I could fix it where you DONT have to have yahoo e-mail to get in, or you have to have special permission to get in, or anywhere in-between. I am going to get some right wingers in here to post as soon as i can find one who is intellectually honest to his or her position and defends it without insult. I am also inviting a few familiar faces. You'll know if they accepted my humble requests when you see their title pages at the beginning. Any and all comments or suggestions on how this can work better for you are welcome.
Today's topic: "The road to the white house needs to go through Bagdad." We should force the conversation back toward Iraq and what this country really expects out of our next president in that regard . Would the Democrats have tried harder if the American people had DEMANDED change (in all caps just like that)? I think so....write letters, write blogs, send e-mails. If the congress and the president can't hear the will of the people, make it so it is impossible for them to ignore it.

Glad to see your 'journey' went well, Huck. As far as spicing it up in here, yes please do.
I have written letters 'till my pencils were all nubs. So I went and bought more. If they don't hear from us, we only have ourselves to blame for not trying.
Xaxeptance449 posted this on the War Board tonight:
at 3 in the morning
when I wake up hot
hear babies crying
even the drunks and all night
partygoers are silent
bright raucous parrot
finally perched
cage covered
finally
with eyes open into the dim
light of the room
my mind searches
for a name
just one name
so I can sleep
am I the only one
who searches
who needs to know
tell me who died in Iraq
tell me who went over there
thinking they would return
having done their duty
ready for school
homesick as hell
somebodys husband
a son
smiling picture over the fireplace
tell me the names of those
dead in Iraq
so I can sleep
as they sleep
dead to the world
and god dont tell me anymore
16 soldiers died today
4 soldiers were ambushed
1 was shot by a sniper
these arent unmanned drones
lazily cruising over sand
shot down by missiles
these are men in their prime
with blood in their veins
guys who drink beer
and fart to get a laugh
kids who just wrote their sweetheart
fear stuffed tightly between
scalp and helmet
who are they god damn it
tell me so I can sleep
and feel human again
and grieve
knowing that to care
is not a casualty
in this lied-about
absolutely unnecessary
insane war
undefined
Thanks, this is the next page of the blog.
